Welcome to the language project of Robo Rampage
Our question for FLL World Class
Learning is how to learn languages in a fun and more effective way.
One of our team members shared her experience in a second language, “I learned a new language called Tamil. It is true that I did learn most of the language and can read it. But I can do that for English way better than Tamil. It was also not so much fun learning Tamil. Why is it so? Well, I grew up in the United States where majority of the people speak English and since being a young child I learned English the natural way. “
We have learned through our search processes that most kids learn a second language through:
- Hearing other people speak the language,
- Attempting and learning to Speak the language
- Learning to Read the language
- Writing in the language
Let us call this process the HSRW process.
When you are learning a language that is not part of your daily life, the HSRW process becomes difficult. There are not many tools that students, teachers and parents can use to perfect the process. The whole process is also not natural and becomes boring and nerve wracking. We have some online apps and tons of websites, but those aren’t really effective and safe to visit all the time. We have language school, but that is either not fun for many kids or not accessible since kids stay far away from the school. Many kids want a fun, better and more effective way to learn another language. And how can we do that? By our solution!
So, that is why for this year’s FLL WolrdClass project, our team Robo Rampage has taken up the challenge of making the HRSW process of learning a language a fun one. We are building a website that is a one stop shop for many languages. The website uses videos, games, songs to make the HSRW process a fun one.
We think Language can be learned in a fun and effective way, when we use our right senses by:
1. playing games in the class and online
2. Listening to audio books
3. Interacting with people from other culture
4. Watching movies or listening to songs
5. Playing jeopardy
6. Talking and playing over Internet with your remote friends and cousins
7. Listening to songs and singing along.
8. Playing puzzles to improve your vocabulary.
These are the fun things that we need to do to have fun learning.
One of our unique solutions to the above problem is to make a website that teaches languages such as Chinese, Spanish, French, Bengali, Hindi and many more! We made many websites each showing how to learn a particular language capturing all of our suggestions above. But these websites will be fun and effective. How? Well to make it fun, open online sources, we have developed video games all by our own and linked to our language websites. We also added funny videos in the language that you are learning. And, believe it or not, these games are really effective. For example, the games teach you the basics of the language you’re learning or speaking. So now, people from all over the world can use our website and learn another language! But you don’t need to learn only one language, you can learn as many as you want. We plan to create more games with multiple choice questions. Users can practice different levels like easy, medium and hard level questions. The system will give test on different levels of practice.
Use our language links and try it for free and see for yourself how learning a new language can be a lot of fun.
If you have creative ideas to add to the fun experience, please contact us. Have fun learning!!
